Cycling in the Peak District

The Trails

Our pub gets visited by cyclists from far and wide due to it's ideal location near the Tissington and High Peak Trails.

The Tissington Trail is a 13 mile long trail, it was originally part of the London and North Western Railway running from Buxton and Ashbourne. Due to the trail being completely traffic free and mostly flat it is an amazing way to see the beautiful views of the Peak District and Derbyshire Dales for both adults and children alike.

A couple of miles along the trail  is Parsley Hay where you can hire bikes and they also offer bike repair and service.

Where the Tissington Trail heads South to Ashbourne, the High Peak Trail splits off slightly East to Middleton Top. The trail follows the former High Peak Railway and also provides amazing views and a great chance to see wildflowers in the summer.

If you're an experienced cyclist looking for a multi-day adventure, our pub and campsite is the perfect stop to relax and refuel with some delicious (and well-earnt) food. The Pennine Cycleway and the Pennine Bridleway follow the Pennines across the country through the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales and happen to make use of the High Peak and Tissington trails near our pub.
